I cannot express the level of love and gratitude I am feeling right now. Love for my son and his stunning girlfriend. The joy of their togetherness, and their mutual respect and consideration. That they each revelled in the others celebrations of success this week as they each (finally and belatedly) graduated as the ‘class of 2021’ both with first class honours masters degrees in their chosen fields (Mechanical Engineering and Law).
I am grateful for the friendships they made, and revelled in watching the interactions between them and their university friends. Relationships that will almost certainly last a lifetime.
I am in awe of all these young adults who achieved so much with the backdrop of Covid restrictions which removed their tutorials, practical’s, and the social interaction so fundamental to university life.
I sat back and wallowed in the shared happiness of his brother and partner in their successes.
And I positively exploded with pride as he received his degree in the university and joined the alumni of Cardiff University at the celebration in the Principality Stadium.
Sharing this day with them alongside my best friend and life partner, John, who just oozed more and more contentment, pride, and happiness as the day progressed, was the best feeling there is.
Love and Gratitude in it’s magnificent magnitude.
