Life isn’t always easy, but as the old saying goes, when life throws you lemons, make lemonade. For Hayley and Joe, they took those lemons and made themselves limoncello mojitos with all the trimmings, including a rainbow cocktail umbrella.
They’ll understand what I’m saying. Life threw them the best of second chances and their love story didn’t need lots of fuss and fancy, it just needed laughter, light-heartedness and a massive splash of colour.

Our groom wore a purple suit, and the best man, the brides son, wore one too. Just a dozen guests, some rainbow bows on the chairs, a garden room in the local hotel, a buffet, a sweetie bar and a ‘slightly’ alternative celebrant.
The Metropole were fabulous , but I do think they were a bit taken aback when I steamed in and started moving the furniture around to meet the needs of our couple. I shuffled the chairs around, bringing them closer in to where our couple would exchange vows. I brought in a brightly coloured picnic rug, got ridof the formal front table and the straight rows.
The couple had chosen unicorn coloured paints for our bespoke, alternative ritual whereby each guest, used their painted hands to add leaves to a bald tree that I’d prepared earlier.
The couple hadn’t arranged a photographer, but I had been hosting a beautiful Ukrainian family for 12 months and Svetlana was a professional photographer who was missing her photography, so she gifted her services to Hayley and Joe and the results are stunning
With two of the most important members of their family unable to attend, their dogs Vader and Ted, I read this on their behalf as sound advice to the happy couple
