I have been blown away by some of the incredible posts, videos, stances, statements and connectivity created during International Women’s Day, (IWD2025)
For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment
This years theme, “Accelerate Action”, is a call for urgency, inclusion, and transformative change. It signals that equality cannot wait, and that all sectors of society must work together to quicken the pace of progress for women’s rights and empowerment. https://www.internationalwomensday.com/
Some of the protests, rallies and marches around the world have been astounding. The creative messaging, the strength and defiance.
I am so proud to be a woman, particularly one of ‘a certain age’ who no longer feels the need to conform and is happy to shout from the rooftops, to cry for the heartache, to rebel against authority and to wear my heart on my sleeve as a badge of strength.
Here are some of my highlights of women in action, not all from 8th March but shared for IWD2025

Meanwhile in France, tens of thousands across France packed rallies for International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 8, aiming for persistent gender pay gaps, violence against women and male-dominated politics. Grève féministe (“Feminist Strike”), said 250,000 people had taken to the streets across France at some 150 demonstrations, with 120,000 people in Paris alone.

Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves!
If only I had money I would bid for this! Annie Lennox is a hero, not just for her music, which is magnificent and brought me much joy for decades, but also because of her feminist and human rights actions. She is the founder of The Circle, “a unique organisation which brings Global Feminists together to fight for a fairer world for women and girls across the world. ” and in their blog on 7th March they announced that Annie is auctioning off handwritten, signed lyrics to Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves
This one is personal
Closer to home, I was ecstatic to read that an old friend from my days at Seetec, had won an award. Ann-Marie Conway, was highly commended for her significant contributions to employee ownership. Seetec has always led the way in offering flexible working and equal opportunities for its female employees, enabling career progression, flexibility and opportunities for growth. I would have loved to have still been there when it moved to Employee Ownership
