Independent Celebrant + Independent Funeral Director = Totally Flexible Services
I’m one of the 30 -40 independent celebrant members in Wales of the only celebrant trade association here in the UK. In June I attended a meeting of the National Society of Allied Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) when they held a meeting of their Wales based members. I was there representing the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC). We are associate members of SAIF, and I am the Welsh Regional Representative for the AOIC.
It was fantastic to be able to represent the AOIC at a meeting of Welsh based Independent Funeral Directors and take the opportunity to showcase the AOIC.
There are so many similarities between SAIF and AOIC members…
We join our trade associations for the credibility and assurances membership offers its clients and associate businesses
Personally, as an independent celebrant, I love working with my local independent funeral directors. They have the flexibility to offer their clients a bespoke and personalised service; they have the community connections and compassion that enable them to add an extra level of authenticity to their service. They care passionately about the families and the wellbeing of a supportive community.
Representing the AOIC…
I had the opportunity to speak for a few minutes to this lovely group of welcoming FDs and discuss the benefits of working in partnership with our members. Like them all our members sign up to a Code of Conduct and engage in continued personal development. Like them, membership gives their clients and partners the added support needed to ensure continuity, professionalism, and cover. They will know, when working with an AOIC celebrant, that we have undergone training; that we have comprehensive insurance; that we have procedures and backing in the case of any issues and that we have access to a wealth of resources and support that would be beneficial to our working partnership.
We are very similar groups with comparative values and it’s a pleasure to be their Associates.
A massive thankyou to Jo Parker (President) and Terry Tennens (CEO) for hosting the Wales SAIF meeting in Margam, at The Twelve Knights, and making me and the other Associate Members so welcome. Also, thanks for the lovely supper.
