I am so very lucky to be a celebrant. I am so very very lucky to live in Mid Wales. And I am so very very very lucky to be able to deliver ceremonies of love, gratitude and unity at some really great, intimate, alternative places. So I thought I’d introduce four alternative venues in Mid Wales, not far from me.
Squirrel’s Nest Treehouse Retreat Weddings
I visited Camilla, the events planner, at the Squirrels Nest and managed to meet, owner, Laura at the same time in 2022 and hope to deliver loads of gorgeous intimate, eco, perfectly understated and totally love centred celebrations at the stunning hill top, rural farm location just outside Llandrindod Wells, near Llanbister… When you drive out there is literally nothing else there, just common land, farmland and the most stunning vistas.
Their romantic treehouses were designed, made and kitted out to perfection by Laura and husband John and on my first visit, I simply did not want to leave. They’re the perfect place for an intimate vow renewal or micro wedding
At the time of my visit, they were building a stargazing platform to take advantage of their dark skies (recognised status) and when I arrived for my first ceremony there, for 2023, the platform was complete and that is where the couple chose to renew their vows. There, with a simple arch, decorated by Camilla, and with just the couple, Camilla and Laura, myself and photographer Livia. It was idyllic and I cant wait to go back again and again
They offer the most amazing tailored packages, including private catering, couples massages, honeymoon hampers and so much more.
Nant Yr Walsh Barn
I cannot wait for an opportunity to deliver a ceremony at Nant Yr Walsh Barn. Catering for up to 100 guests , this venue is just 3 miles from my home and it sits alongside the owners Cwm Irfon Cottages , providing on site accommodation for loads of your wedding guests. Just down the road are natural pools in the river, perfect for swimming. All in all a great place for a small to medium wedding and perfect for involving congregation of all ages. The barn opened for business last year and is hosting its first real weddings now! . There is a beautiful natural pond and a gorgeous sun trap courtyard , perfect for photos, catering, dancing and holding a ceremony outside. But the inside space is divine and the glass walls open up bringing the inside out and the outside in. Such a fun venue and totally off grid, eco friendly but luxurious at the same time.
Peterstone Court
I love the flexibility of this place. Having visited Peterstone Court in the Brecon Beacons, with a couple whose vow renewals I’ll be delivering, I was struck by the intimacy of this perfectly formed country house. It has everything you would want for anything from a medium sized indulgent wedding to an intimate ceremony with a few close friends in their perfect little library. You can wallow in luxury and use 
their sumptuous rooms, spa facilities and dining experiences of their five star restaurant; or you can take it outside into the delightful grounds and incorporate a more festival feel with an outdoor celebration.
My first (hopefully of many) celebrations there will be in that library, with just a dozen people, and we are breaking with pretty much all the rules! I simply cannot wait!
Micro Weddings at Cerdyn Villa and the Cwtch Hwtch
For something completely different, I cannot not recommend my own home. Opening from June this year, I offer all inclusive pick and mix packages for micro celebrations and elopements. Whether its a gratitude or vow renewal ceremony for two, or your want to come along with a very fe
w close friends or family, The packages come with me as your celebrant, use of my bespoke made tepee, our 3m square tree deck and the Cwtch Hwtch, our romantic garden boudoir.. Additionally you have use of our self contained annex with bathroom, kitchen and seating, should the weather ‘change’ and also additional sleeping for a max of 3. Why not let your kids put up a tent on the lawn, or book additional space in our family home B&B. You can even add in a stained glass workshop and make your own linked hearts suncatcher .
